Preparation
1. Prepare the craft materials for the Art activity. This includes coloured paper of assorted shapes, coloured markers, craft glue and other materials on the Material List.
2. Set up 4 tables with table cloth and place the craft materials in the centre of each table.
3. Create a sample of the art activity and place it in a visible location for reference during the activity.
Part 1: Story Time
From Head to Toe by Eric Carle
Target Vocabulary:

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
1. Recognize and respond to the target vocabulary.

Materials Needed:
1. "From Head to Toe" by Eric Carle
2. Projector (for YouTube song)
3. Body part flashcards (head, hand, foot, arm, leg)
4. Plush toys or pictures of the animals in the story
Lesson Procedure
1. **Warm-Up (5 mins)**: Start the lesson with a cheerful greeting. Introduce the body parts using body part flashcards and encourage students to repeat after you. Use the target instruction "Touch your..." while showing the flashcards.
2. **Story Introduction (10 mins)**: Show the children the cover of the book and introduce it as today's story. Introduce the target instructions by demonstrating them with your own body. For example, say "Touch your head" and then "Shake your hand."
3. **Story Time (10 mins)**: Read the story aloud, using a lot of gestures and facial expressions to make the story engaging. Pause after each page to point to the animals and body parts and encourage the students to do the same. Use the target instructions to engage students, for example, "Touch your nose," or "Can you shake your foot?"
4. **Review and Closure (5 mins)**: Sing either one of the songs as a review of the target vocabulary and instructions. Encourage the students to dance along with the song and touch the corresponding body parts when they appear in the song. Use the target instructions to guide students during the song, like "Touch your head," or "Can you shake your hand?" Praise the students for their participation and efforts.

Part 2: Art and Craft Activity
Activity: "Colourful Body"
Learning Objectives
By the end of this activity, students should be able to:
1. Recognize the body parts from the story.
2. Develop fine motor skills through hands-on craft activity.
Materials Needed:
1. A4 drawing paper (black or white)
2. Coloured paper in assorted shapes (square, rectangles, circle, semi-circle, etc)
3. Coloured markers
4. Craft glue
5. Optional: decorative foam stickers in assorted shapes
Lesson Procedure
1. **Instructions (5 mins)**: Explain the activity to the children. Show them how to select the body part shapes they want to paste, and guide them in gluing the pieces onto the drawing paper. Show them the sample you prepared earlier as a reference.
2. **Art and Craft Time (20 mins)**: Let the children choose the drawing paper they want to create on (black or white) and guide them as they work on their craft. Encourage them to recall the body parts from the story. As you walk around to check on their progress, don't forget to use a marker to write their names at the back or on the bottom right of the drawing paper.
3. **Review and Closure (5 mins)**: Ask each child to show their "Colourful Body" to the class, ask them questions about it such as "What body part is this?" or "Can you find your leg?" Praise their effort and creativity.
4. **Wash Up (5 mins)**: Guide the children in cleaning up their work area and washing their hands after the craft activity. This is a good opportunity to teach them about cleanliness and responsibility.
- Use clear, simple language and speak slowly.
- Ensure all activities are developmentally appropriate for 2-year-olds. Allow the children to learn at their own pace.
- Provide assistance and positive feedback as needed.
- Use a variety of visual aids and physical activities to keep the students engaged.
- Remember that for 2-year-olds, the focus is on exposure and repetition rather than mastery.
- Make the lesson fun and engaging.
- Reinforce learning through repetition and hands-on activities.
- Be gentle with corrections and offer lots of praise to motivate the students.
- Before the art and craft activity, remind the children to roll up their sleeves and each wear an apron to protect their clothes.
- Communicate with the partner teachers about when to hand out the artwork - either at the end of the class or in the next class.
